detailing local attractions, and there are several tourist information
centres (Stroud, Nailsworth, Tetbury, Cirencester) a few minutes'
drive away. Many people take advantage of the lovely walks that
start from right beside the house. Others visit the local horse-riding
stables. The National Trust owns the hundreds of acres of common
land around Minchinhampton, and several stunning country houses
within comfortable driving distance.
Westonbirt Arboretum is
well-known for its spectacular displays of trees and wild flowers,

The famous Forest of Dean is also close by, with its steam railway.
For animal lovers, there
is Slimbridge wildlife charity, founded by Sir Peter Scott, Bristol
Zoo, and Longleat Safari Park. Local farms also open as attractions.
Sudeley and Berkeley Castles are at hand.
Fantastic towns and cities,
with museums such as the Beatrix Potter attraction, await you
at Gloucester, Cheltenham,
Cirencester
and Bath - so named because of its incredible Roman baths. This
